No, No, don't shop in Ginza! You are going to want to go to Ochanomizu station. It is like one or two stops away from Akihabara. When you get off, you should be at the top of a hill. Cross the bridge and start walking downhill from there. Prepare yourself my friend, this street is lined with music shop after music shop for blocks on end and both sides of the street. If you get to the bottom of the hill and go straight, you will be in the book district where stores are selling all these antique books. Or go left and you will enter my favorite place in Tokyo, the snowboard/ski mecca of Tokyo which in the summer time turns to surfing along with some skate shops.

You can also reach the Ochanomizu area from the Shin-Ochanomizu staion. When you come out of Shin-Ochanomizu, just follow the signs to get to Ochanomizu station. If I was there, I could point you in the right direction because seriously I stop off at Ochanomizu every time I am nearby.
