Depends on what you want to see. If I had two weeks in Japan, I would go to Tokyo, Kyoto and Hiroshima stopping at different tourist traps along the way. I would say a budget of around 10,000 yen a day or a little more is appropriate depending where you stay and what sort of food and drink you are consuming. This doesn't include travel expenses. You could get by for less, but I don't know. I tend to spend a lot on vacations. For example two nights stay for 6,000 yen plus 10,000 in train fares plus 8,000 in lift tickets plus 4,000 in food then 10,000 in beer was my New Year's vacation in Hakuba snowboarding. That is almost 40,000 yen for a weekend trip or 350 US dollars, but I was planning for it all month.
