tokugawa ieyasu used lots n lots of tricks to become a shogun~
i believe he didn't even start off as a samurai~
forgot how, but he some how rose to power x3
and took over hideyoshi's(??) dream of the unification of japan~
he eventually did so w/ the battle of sekigahara in like 1600 i believe x]
later on, he fools the emperor by creating false ties with his family (in order become a shogun, one must be within the emperor's family x]) and becomes a shogun~ thus the start of the tokugawa shogunate.
in 1854~ matthew perry forced teh japanese to open their ports to trade w/ the us~ >.>''
this led to loads of internal conflicts x3
which eventually led to teh bakumatsu and the meiji restoration~~~ x]
japanese were also heavily influenced by koreans and a bit by the portuguese and dutch i believe x]
