I think you've missed my point, Suki. Forgive me.
It's not that a soldier isn't prepared to fight. It's that, generally, he (or she) doesn't choose the circumstance of the fight.
There were soldiers in the military when 9/11 happened. They didn't get a chance to choose whether they thought the cause was "right" or not. They were going to war,
regardless.
