Sex alone is arid.
Love alone... I think a person need to become much mature in order to live with his/her partner, truly love he/she and not have sex.
If you think, when people get older, usually the interest moves from sex to take care of the family.
Love and sex together are simply the best you can have from them.
As some1 said earlier in this thread, that's probably the reason why it's the most spread condition of people in every culture.
IMO the problem is that most of the people usually mistakes love with the "falling in love" process, which is a very different thing.
