And you think they care about that? How many of them actually know why they do what they're doing? They're told what to do. They do it. They get paid. Sure there're some of them who are well aware of what's going on and feel proud of their achievements as soldiers but I'd say that's hardly the case. Like I said: different times, different motives.

It's not about being a "good" marine; have you ever heard of empathy? You can't just watch someone die and act like nothing happened! Being unable to kill doesn't make you a bad soldier, it makes you a human.

And what sort of person chooses pain over comfort? I think it's not much of a personal choice as much as it is a matter of necessity, whatever that may be.

So the US sells weapons of mass destruction to Iraq and decide the time has come for the Iraqi people to give them back because oh, they're worried they might be used the wrong way? Should have thought about that one before making such risky deals.
