All that to say that origin and religion are not "skills" for elect someone as a President..
You are absolutely correct about it not being a skill for the presidency. But in reality, all too many people factor the candidate religion heavier than their real qualifications. To the extent that political speeches are being made from pulpits.

And the reason McCain's religion is not all over the press is because it in line with the Christian oppression of other religions in this country, so it is not deemed noteworthy.
