You're correct.
I never did think about it like that.
The thing is when someone I love dies I get sadder and go through more then if my dog died.
In that way humans are inferior in my mind, but it's only natural to love your own species more.
Now theres exceptions like my cat Lucifer who's been with me since the day he arrived on this earth. We understand each other and communicate all the time, just not in the same way I communicate with humans. However I'll be just as devastated when he dies as I was when my close friend did.
