I wore a Kimono for a non Celebration purposes *pondering* well it may have been on Buddhas Birthday. Can't remember >_<

Anyways Not all Kimono are Made of Silk (they have Summer Kimono that made of cotton but cant remember what there called) Kimonos are still worn to day by a lot of people but mostly for celebration like you said. (but some Older people ware it every day out of tradition but you don't see that as much)
