Realizing that this does not neccessarily count as a 'movie', I can say that one old series (and I mean 80's old) that did have me pretty emotional by the end of it was "Long Vacation".
It's sort of humorous and such, but what happens with these people during this drama is pretty deep in its own way...
So yeah... if you can get past the 80s hairdos, fashion and the repetitive music used in the show -- heheheh... - I think some would get a kick out of it.
And I especially enjoy the main theme song. That singer is good.
