Yeah there's another thread about this (I don't feel like pulling it up). Long story short: You don't know the language, so don't emblazon it on your skin. Just because you know the "translation" doesn't mean you know the "meaning".
Besides, it's tacky. I don't agree that its racist, but it is a little disrespectful to the language, and, like I said, pretty tacky and uncool.
If I had ¥100 for every time I've seen some meathead or weaboo walking around with "kitchen" or "free (as in free of cost, not freedom)" written somewhere on them in sloppy kanji (most of the time the kanji is backward, too), I'd be a rich, rich man indeed.
