Depends. If you're on a student visa, you can legally work up to 20 hours a week, including private tutoring. Many people do it. Go for it. If you're on a working visa, you can work however long you like!

I think it's the difference between full- and part- time. I know you can't work full-time on a work permit. I had one, too, when I was a student.
