I had already had this plan thought out when I posted it, but after finding this forum and reading some of the threads about learning Japanese and kanji, I started to have doubts.

Everyone learns differently. I have, when prompted, suggested a generic method of learning Japanese that I believe is highly effective for self-study. However, if you have crafted a method
and you know you are learning a lot using it, don't fix something that isn't geborken.
