Help on project about Japanese Media - 04-03-2010, 11:57 PM

Hi guys! I live in Georgia, USA and I am currently doing a college project on the portrayal of female bodies in Japanese media and how that reflects on contemporary Japanese art and culture. I just have a few questions you can choose to answer; feel free to answer honestly since the only person to see this data will be I and a singular professor. Also, if you do not feel that a question is not appropriate to answer then skip it. Answer as many questions as you feel comfortable enough to answer.
The questions are as follows:

Are there any gender roles that characterizes the ‘Ideal’ woman in Japan? Y/N
If so, what does this ideal woman look like and what do you think she represents?

Is it important to follow this gender role? Y/N
If so, why?

Is sex portrayed in the media? Y/N
If so, are there any common images?
If sex is seen in the Media/art, how is female sexuality portrayed? Is it encouraged?

Are lesbians/sexual minorities portrayed in the media? Y/N
If so, how are they portrayed and what does the Media say about them?

Is there anything considered "unmoral" or "dirty" for a woman to do? Y/N
If so, what are these acts?

Thank you for your time and effort!

Sincerely,
Leigh Anna Spivy
