These are beautiful though. I'm suffering serious garden envy~ my garden's full of stupid heavy clay. I'd love to take some of the traditional ideas behind these sorts of gardens though and apply it to an English context; Native British plants and local stone used to make a Japanese garden effect and so forth. Not sure if that's possible though :/
