California Roll is not Japanese cuisine.

I am not trying to be hard on you nobora, but to say sushi is fast and simple is a real insult to the sushi chefs who literally spend years...sometimes decades...perfecting their art.

Most Japanese people order out for sushi, not make it at home. It requires skills in rice cooking and fish selection and cooking. People will make temaki-zushi at home, but still the rice and vinegar are key.

People don't spend years learning how to make mac-&-cheese or cheeseburgers. They do with sushi. Though in the US it is easier to find what I would consider inedible sushi than the good stuff. The good stuff doesn't have to be super expensive, just cut and prepared by someone that knows what they are doing. A lot of good sushi is knowing a bad hunk of fish. That's why I don't leave what goes in my mouth to the hands of amateurs. That's not being snobby, that's being safe.
