'Vanilla' as a word in general applied to anything other than ice-cream or orchid pods screams several things at me; fluffy chick-lit, Trying Too Hard to Be Ironic and soft-core pornography. Generally not what I, personally, am looking for in a novel. I'd expect a mushy romance story. teen romance probably. or yeah, consensus from this end is 'sounds like porn' actually, with the 17 tag on it, sounds like 'barely-legal porn'. Or a 1980's puffed up glam rocker. It kind of sounds cheap, if you get my drift. Anything with 'vanilla' on the cover in my experience is usually paperback, gritty with the ghosts of old holidays, and winds up in a charity shop.
Essentially my views as well. Softcore porn and all...and people would be wondering where the other 116 whatevers are.

Fortunately, there is one woman in this world who can control me.

Unfortunately for you, she is not here.
