In my case, I would prefer to know as little about people off camera as possible. I prefer to see them as the person they are playing for the length of the role and not have some strong back drop of personality linked to them.
It`s sort of depressing to have some skilled actor be infamous for something or other, and to have that seep through when watching them in something... Inevitably taking away from the suspension of reality that should be happening.
