I liked both Mello and Near, but given the choice between the two of them, I'd have to go with Near. Something about him I really liked. He seemed more L-like to me.

yea i agree he couldnt have really prevented that but he did let his gaurd down in the end. i love L though he was amazing and his sweet tooth made me laugh

Near just annoyed me, I wanted Kira to win even though he was an evil little thing. And I love Misa <3

I don't think my thread is a spoiler the ep. of L's death has already been aired on T.V. making it purfectly ok for my thread to exsist

It was not only L the one who died, it was L and Deathnote.

Mello and Near?...lmao those characters are not compatible with the deathnote that died with L.

Im bitter? yes, but is ok it's just that i didn't expect L dying, that was the last unexpected thing about that series...everything else to me is just boring, predictable and not worthy to see.

But Mello and Near combined is pretty much L. Near is the calm, playful side, where as Mello is the impulsive one. These traits can all be seen in the L that died.

I honestly had no problem with neither Near nor Mello. I really liked those two and their different ways of approaching the situation made the story really interesting, imo.

I still wonder if my feelings would be different regarding L's death, if I'd watched the series before I'd read it.

I chose Near because he's like a mini-L... but Mello is the same way (just slightly creepier and more brash...)

I hate both Mello and Near. Nobody of them could be successor of L. They're expressionless. Furthermore theirs achievements IMO haven't logical explanation. Many facts appears from nowhere. These two was the main weak point of DN. The death of L should be the last event of serie. To 22 episode, the DN was great, but the next episode presented low standard.
