The only kind I stay away from would also be Hentai. Not to say I haven't given it a chance. Just don't care for it in any way.

I don't watch much anime anymore, but when I did, I avoided the cutesy type of anime. I like anime that is a bit more dark and realistic but still keeps my head in the air

I stay away from mecha anime/manga, except Evangelion. I'm more into the ecchi/harem/romance/drama/school life types of anime/manga

I normally stay away from hentai and things with explicit content, along with mecha anime and anime based off games (though the .hack SIGN anime was pretty good.)
