In general, I do watch the occaisional episode or read a manga online, but that's mostly because I live in this tiny little town (that I totally hate) with nowhere around that I can buy stuff. Whenever I get the chance (usually at relatively nearby conventions) I buy as much as I have the money for (usually around $100 to $200).

Soo... Yeah, I do watch stuff online, but I put my money into the system too...

Edit: Terrible about Geneon... And I hope ADV pulls through. I love alot of the stuff they liscense... Sort of indifferent to TokyoPop, but it's still bad.

Exactly. It's one thing to steal music, seeing as it's a stronger industry, but the anime and manga industry is a lot weaker (here, at least).

i buy my manga, cause i don't like reading online, but haven't gotten any new manga in past few months cause there are a few libraries around me that have some manga that i want to read.

anime wise, if i had money to buy anime i would. i just have money this season to get slayers Next and Slayers Try and maybe season 1 of one piece. They are pretty expensive.

I believe bootleg anime/manga is so popular because most of it's viewers are young.
These kids don't have the money to go out and get jobs.
Also, alot of parents are nonsupporting of anime.
I've spoken to plenty of kids who's parents think anime is the devil.

Rather then dropping jobs perhaps they should lower prices.

I don't think that production of anime will ever come to a dead stop because it's so popular.

The best thing non-bootleggers can do like yourself MMM, is introduce more people to anime/manga.
We all have those friends that think anime is the most stupid and childish thing in the world, try convincing them otherwise by introducing them to one they'll like.

One thing I do when I get stuck baby sitting someones monster, to make it settle down I pop in some jumpy happy anime.
They love it.

The more people that watch anime the more people that buy it.

People who work to bring anime and manga into English don't do it as charity work or for your "honor". They do it to pay the bills. When people steal anime and manga the bills don't get paid. People get laid off. Companies go out of business. Besides the fact that lives are put in disarray, we get fewer titles in English.

How many more people need to lose their jobs and how many more titles need to be cut for you to get some guts?

I know for a fact that I'll probably still stick with reading Negima online and other series that I'm physically collecting, until it actually gets released to buy later.

I still wish the stuff I read or have read that's still unlicensed would get a license so that I could buy them.
