Our public library carries manga, but they are all really old, and never buy any new ones.

If you ask. "Do you have Manga books."

they answer. "What is that?"

I answer. "Graphic novels"

they reply. "Oh yes, we do....english or spanish?"

Then I say. "English."

then they say. "American or Japanese?"

then I say "There's American?"

I comes to find out that american is the comic stuff.
Surprised you didn't already know this. To be completely honest, when I think "Graphic Novel", American series come to mind for me, like Batman, Superman, X-Men, etc.

Librarians like to be introduced to new stuff. Don't be afraid to tell them what you are interested in.

I doubt it. I can't imagine there being any manga in a Scottish library...

Maybe... as long as they don't see manga as some sort of "simple comics".

In this day and age I don't think they do. Like I've said before, librarians WANT people to read. They aren't just full of classic literature, but of EVERYTHING. Simple and not simple.

My library and school libraries have them, and we have an anime club at both the school and local libraries. :3
And there isn't a Borders or any bookstore of the sort that isn't 20 minutes away here, so it's convenient.
