"The story features ubiquitous creatures called Mushi that often display supernatural powers. Mushi are described as beings in touch with the essence of life, far more basic and pure than normal living things. Due to their ephemeral nature most humans are incapable of perceiving Mushi and are oblivious to their existence, but there are a few who possess the ability to see and interact with Mushi. The Mushi depicted in the anime look very similar to floaters."

Got that from Wikipédia, checked with someother websites, and they say the same thing.

Courtesy of Nihongodict.com:

mushi:

蒸し [むし] (n,n-suf) steaming, (P)
虫 [むし] (n) insect, (P)

無始 [むし] (n) the remote beginnings

無死 [むし] (n) baseball with no outs, (P)

無私 [むし] (adj-na,n,adj-no) selflessness, unselfish

無視 [むし] (n,vs) disregard, ignore, (P)

I'd rather be an idiot having fun than a genius bored out of his mind.

I'm pretty sure it's bugs.

It is bugs.

this is a little corny,

結果と幸せがあってはいけないことを誰かが制御するこ とを許可したらそれについてこうすれば、制御するあな た自身を、私保証する考えなさい。 あなた自身がそれを変えないために注意してはいけない だれでもありなさい
