Makoto Shinkai - 02-20-2008, 08:11 PM

How can no one have created a Makoto Shinkai thread by now?? HE'S AWESOME!!! >_< Ok, I liked 5 Centimeters per Second, and I liked Voice of a Distant Star, but I LOVED (LOVED LOVED LOVED LOVED LOVED!!) Place Promised in Our Early Days.

It was a damned good movie 0.0 Which I'm surprised didn't do quite as well as 5 Centimeters Per Second...<--- Instant classic. Course, that probably wouldn't have been so instant if not for his earlier works, so...

Anyhow, what do you guys think of Makoto Shinkai and of his currently sparse works, what is your favorite?

DWAH!? You must be enlightened -_-" I suspect you speak Japanese quite well, if not fluently? Well, one sec...

Ok, general description: Makoto Shinkai is an anime director/writer/animator, and crawled from the bottom of the pack to being considered the new Miyazaki. He is currently running a streak of sad love stories, including his three famous works Voices of a Distant Star, 5 Centimeters Per Second, and The Place Promised In Our Early Days. Here is the preview that caused me to become a fan ^_^

Very slow. Buffering takes forever, then it'll play a clip probably for 1-2 secs, then rebuffers for a long time, again.
