grow out of anime? it's the exact opposite for me.
i started watching when i was a kid and only liked some if the stuff i saw.
(seeing as i wasn't quite old enough to grasp a lot of the themes in anime)
and now (at 23) i get into a new series every couple days it seems like.

I find myself a hypocrite when I thought anime is for kids, and now no more. I think some animes are better than 90% american award movies. Some movies are disgusting, but anime never disgust me.

Do not be a hypocrite, just enjoy.

Well, like some people said a few pages ago, the term "to grow out of" is really a bit delicate. And relative, too. I mean, you may be old for something, but sometimes that nostalgic feeling will make you love it forever. I don't think that makes you childish or nothing like that.

And also, there are various genres of anime. I couldn't say something like, i grew out of movies, because there are various genres of movies: movies for kids, horror movies, sci-fi movies, dense and artistic movies. You just pick the one that's right for you. I think anime would be the same.

Speaking for myself, I think that anime started annoying me a bit. As a kid, I used to watch a lot of anime and wasn't very fond of manga. I don't know why, but now, I read tons of manga, including childish ones (who am I fooling? specially childish ones) but no anime pleases me. For japanese TV, i go for dramas. Then again, you have all the genres to choose from.
