Scanalations and Hard Copies Question - 02-11-2012, 09:15 PM

I wanted to hear the opinion on scanalations. Do most people choose to read scanalations because they want to save money or is it because US manga liscensers are slow compared to scanalators when releasing manga volumes?

With the average volume of a popular manga such as Eden no Ori and Toradora priced at 10.99 USD with around 192 pages of content, I do wonder if it is a release time problem and not a money problem?

Ultimately my question is if manga such as Cage of Eden was released on a timescale similar to that of its Japan counterpart, would that reduce the amount of people reading off of mangafox.com etc? On a side note, Cage of Eden (eng) is stalled on vol 3 haha on the kodansha comic site.
