(Im watching .hack//sign myself at the moment. Its a show about characters inside an mmorpg. warning though: its a bit slow paced and it does not have a lot of action sequences in it

If you like giant robots check out Giant Robo,
for vampires try Vampire Princess Miyu
and for samurai watch Samurai Champloo

If you're into puppets then I'd recommend Puppet Princess,
Magic Knight Rayearth is a must for all Magic Knight fans.
and Violinist of Hamelin is good if you're into violinists.
