No, not exactly. The story is set pretty much in reality, except a few people have this condition.

She isn't dying, but disappearing...

It's a very original idea...

Yes, parts of her disappear, on a monthly cycle...at its peak her entire body disappears.

It is pretty funny. Does your library get Dark Horse titles? This is their first shojo manga title.
