When good mangas die

I wanted to talk about two examples of good manga that have stopped being published in america. Desert Coral is a long time favorite of mine, but was only published up to volume 3 in america, and then theres D.N.Angel, which was also an awesome manga, which stopped being published all the way into the 11 vol. has anyone else had an old favorite go dead on them like this? I can always finish the DNAngel anime, but I'll never see Desert Coral again, it wasn't popular enough to be put on the web...T_T

Though MUSEUM OF TERROR is all short stories, they stopped after three volumes, when I think there were 14 volumes in Japan. These are stories by Junji Ito (TOMIE)...REALLY creepy stuff...but I wanted MORE!

i am reluctant to buy first volumes published by adv manga, because of that, they seem to publish one or two volumes and then stop without any notice

Really? Which ones have they killed?

Let me tell you what`s worse...

When a publisher in Japan suddenly decides they no longer want to continue a series, and you get this really really crappy "Try to tie the whole story up as fast as you can" final chapter.

When they just stop publishing in English, at least you could still read the Japanese original. But when they force the series to an end, that`s it.

My favorite example of this is 花田少年史. An excellent series which didn`t have all that much popularity in the original run... So they canceled it, and the author made a speedy (read crappy) ending for it.
Later on, it gained a lot of popularity thanks to the author`s next work, and sold a TON of compilations. It ended up being made into an anime, and then a movie.

It was the type of series that could have gone on for a very long time... but they killed it at the source.

America didn't stop translating DN-Angel. The creater is taking a break from it to write something else. Thats what I read on wiki, and in a issue of Anime Insider... but if I'm wrong, sorry sorry.
