Im new and need some advice. - 12-01-2007, 02:18 AM

hi everyone. first post for me.
i have recently come into a sizable amount of money.
i wont say how much but its plenty.
i was thinking of buying a home in japan.
i have the money to buy a house outright so i dont have to worry about a loan.
not sure about buying an apartment of a house but thats not the point of my post.
what im wondering is about a visa.
i have been to japan for a very short time and i really enjoyed it.
so i wanted to go back on a tourist visa stay there and see if i want to move there.
if i decide i want to move there what are my options?
i dont have a degree. so that pretty much rules out a work visa.
i have the money to support myself for a very long time if not the rest of my life if i dont blow it all.
so what kind of options are there?

if you need to know anything more just ask.

thanks a lot for the help.

It must be a LOT of money if you want to move to one of the most expensive countries in the world to live.

Interesting question.

No degree means no work visa...you got it.

Your best bet is to fall in love with a Japanese person and get married.

haha yea its a good ammount of money.
and i already have a girl.
so unless my girlfriend is extremely understanding thats out of the question.

id like to do some japanese studies while im there.
not fulltime tho so i dont know if that would get me a student visa.

edit: oh and it is an expensive country. but im used to things being really expensive. i live in new jersey.
apartment here run at the lowest $800
and thats for a hole in the ground.
so the prices of homes and apartments doesnt startle me at all.
