Blood Type - 02-09-2008, 12:51 AM

do u guys think that its true that blood type can be connected with your personality ? i found this article on that site : Issendai's Lair

btw my blood type is AB- what about yours ;] ?

Japanese Blood Types and Personality

Every Japanese celebrity writeup and every anime character description with any claim to authority gives the person's (or character's) blood type. Why? Because, thanks to a remarkable bit of Science! by a gentleman named Furukawa Takeji, the Japanese believe that a person's blood type affects their personality.

Each blood type has a personality profile. These profiles—which I took from a site whose location is long since lost in the mists of time, my apologies—are:

Type A

People with blood type A have a deep-rooted strength that helps them stay calm in a crisis when everyone else is panicking. However, they tend to avoid confrontation, and feel very uncomfortable around people. A types are shy and sometimes withdrawn. They seek harmony and are very polite, but all the same feel that they never really fit in with others. A types are very responsible. If there is a job to be done, they prefer to take care of it themselves. These people crave success and are perfectionists. They are also very creative, and the most artistic of all the blood types, most likely because of their sensitivity.

People with blood type A are also likely to be considered classic "type A's": stressed and conscientious. In anime, people like Hotohori are type A's.

The Third Hokage, Haruno Sakura, Hotohori, Heero Yui, Keiko (Kayko) Yukimura

Type B

People with blood type B are the most practical of the blood groups. They are specialists in what they do. When they start a project, they spend extra time understanding and trying to follow directions than others might. When they are doing something, all of their attention is focused on it. They tend to stick to a goal and follow it through to the end, even if it seems impossible. They tend to be less than cooperative, as they like to follow their own rules and their own ideas. They are individualists. B type people pay attention to their thoughts a little more than their feelings, and therefore can sometimes seem cold and serious.

People with blood type B are often considered more relaxed, freewheeling, and unconventional than other types, although not necessarily to an unacceptable degree. In anime, the genki, off-the-wall types are type B, along with any kind of well-intended character who's ruled by their impulses.

Naruto, Duo Maxwell, Miaka, Nuriko, Tasuki, Sagara Sanosuke

Type O

People with blood type O people are outgoing, energetic and social. They are the most flexible of the blood types. They easily start up projects but often have trouble following through because they give up easily. They are flighty and not too dependable. O types always say what's on their mind. They value the opinion of others and like to be the center of attention. Also, people with O blood are extremely self-confident.

Type O, the most "average" blood type, is considered the best type in Japan.

Quatre, Sailor Moon, Saito Hajime, Kamiya Kaoru, Tamahome

Type AB

People with blood type AB are hard to categorize. They can have characteristics on both ends of the spectrum at the same time. For instance, they are both shy and outgoing. They easily switch from one opposite to another. AB people are trustworthy and responsible, but can't handle it when too much is asked of them. They don't mind doing favors or helping out, as long as its on their own conditions. People with this blood type are interested in art and metaphysics.

AB is considered the worst blood type. In predictability-loving Japan, they're loose cannons. They also like to set their own conditions and reserve the right to drop out when things don't meet their expectations. They're known to be sensitive and considerate—at times—but it just isn't enough to balance out the flaws in this blood type. For a while, some companies tried dividing their employees into work groups based on blood type, and no one wanted to work with the AB group. Anime villains are likely to be type AB.

Uchiha Sasuke, Hongo Yui, Tomo, Trowa Barton, Kenshin

A is most compatible with A and AB.

B is most compatible with B and AB.

AB is most compatible with AB, B, A, and O.

O is most compatible with O and AB.

The idea that blood type determines personality has been dying out slowly in Japan. At the same time, the West has finally noticed the potential of blood typing. We haven't quite cottoned onto the idea that blood type is related to personality, but there's a growing belief in fad diets that teach that each blood type evolved at a certain point in human history, so people with that blood type should eat the diet most common among humans at that point. Instead of balanced, nicely average O's, we have savage cavemen hunching around the fire and tearing at hunks of meat; solid-citizen type A's become "docile vegetarians" as well; bouncy type B's get to indulge in ice cream and cheese; and type AB's, as always, are half one thing and half another, and get to eat vegan food or dairy-and-everything-else—IF it suits them. Blood type diets are worth looking into if only to imagine your favorite characters' reactions to their new diets.

Sailor Moon, cavewoman. That image puts me in a happy place.

omg finally someone who cares about this aspect of Japanese culture!

If I remember correctly my birth card thing said type A. And both my parents are A type blood. Do you think I fit the A type personality?

Interestingly, AB bloodtype is the rarest. Also, most villians and anti-heroes in anime/manga tend to be type AB.

Final Fantasy loves AB bloodtypes. Both Cloud and Squall were AB type.

Q: Who cares what other people think?!?!
A: Japanese people do.

i am B. most definatly. I'm very laid back and LAZY! lol
my family has a history of O and B blood types, so there's a little bit of
O in me too. The Japanese standard is similar to what I've heard (korean
standard) they put it a bit more bluntly.

(half jokingly btw. but koreans really think this!)
A : the rulers. the pushovers, the one's who are on top of these. organized,
bossy, very stubborn, romantic, weak to love, and A girls try to handle things
in their own hands when problems arise.
B : free spirited, rebelious, tend to come off as lazy, careless, make many
mistakes, is more of a group person than an independent person. B guys
tend to make bad boyfriends because they don't care to call back, get tired
of the girl fast, and think alot of things are bothersome.
O : tend to be liked by everyone. are calm, caring, and friendly. are very
social and like to talk. are presumably good at many things. like simplicity,
relaxation, and are light hearted. O boys tend to be very outspoken and
can come off as rude to anyone they meet, it is a natural personality
trait that they extract as being comfortable. O girls tend to be shy and care
alot about the littlest things.
AB: they're either genius` or psycho (lol korean joke. im not sure why...)
AB's come off as extremely intelligent, dilligent, and hard working.
AB's tend to learn things much faster than others and puts in more effort
than most others. They are also known to be the blood type of many people
who commit serial crimes or murders.

Well, in reality I'm an O-type... But reading those descriptions, I think I should be an OB!

I actually have more traits of B than O, but I have all the O traits that really count :P

"When they start a project, they spend extra time understanding and trying to follow directions than others might. When they are doing something, all of their attention is focused on it. They tend to stick to a goal and follow it through to the end, even if it seems impossible." All the time.

But

"They easily start up projects but often have trouble following through because they give up easily."

I'll often get into something that's tough and stick with it like there's nothing else in the world, but then things that are easy I drop like a Pocky stick with a spider leg sticking out of the chocolate frosting.

"They are individualists. B type people pay attention to their thoughts a little more than their feelings, and therefore can sometimes seem cold and serious." Both ideals that I hold as sacred--'Use reason, not passion' and 'I am my own master'.

"O types always say what's on their mind. They value the opinion of others and like to be the center of attention." Don't like admitting that I enjoy being the center of attention... Actually, I loathe the idea of it, but when it actually happens... well, it's another story . And I do tend to talk faster than I think. ivi0nk3y and noodle should know all about that habit of mine XD .

I'm also shy like an A type in person, but I think that's the only A trait that I have :P .

So, I'm an OB

i researched about this sometime ago. just to note it is not some kind of old belief unless of course you consider last century old haha. ABO blood types were only discovered in 1900 for starters. i did a check on wiki just now because i remembered that this idea of blood type and personality was started in the late 1920s here is what wiki said:

Quote:
The theory first reached Japan in 1927 in Takeji Furukawa's paper "The Study of Temperament Through Blood Type" in the scholarly journal Psychological Research. He was a professor at Tokyo Women's Teacher's School. The idea quickly took off with the Japanese public despite his lack of credentials, and the militarist government of the time commissioned a study aimed at breeding the soldiers.[1] The study used no more than ten to twenty people for the investigation. The breeding program therefore ended up with miserable results - most of the army selected by the project lost their lives.

Genetically, not.
O's a recessive gene, if I'm correct.
It takes two "O" genes to make an "o" child ._.;

And they're just "OO". >_>;
It's not "OB"
XD; You just have the personality. Remember that a lot of things are created to "predict" your personality and being XD; And this is pretty narrow, really, as true as it may seem
This is what I remember from ninth grade biology.

Lol, No, I know that OB doesn't actually exist. My point was that if this article is to be believed and blood type is indeed linked to personality, I would have to be an OB.

And I don't believe O is a recessive... I'm not sure, really. I do know that my mum is A and my dad is B, which would mean that me getting O is not even a 25% chance--probably not even 10%. But, again, I'm really not sure.

Yeah, there are a lot. I once took a quiz on one of those websites that give you the "Which Anime character are you" type things you see on Myspace all time. Apparently, I have a "natural" style of flirting and am an expert kisser. If that's true, shouldn't I be in a relationship right now? XD Also, I apparently have an IQ of 165, a manifestation of the song "Bring Me to Life", and the equivelant of Elizabeth Swan with just a little bit o' ol' Cap'n Jack thrown in for good measure, whilst being Miroku from Inuyasha.

What's scary is when you get one of these personality predicters and they're actually right. I read a Chinese Zodiac thing once, and it was eerily accurate. Those irk me....
