Light novels - 04-12-2008, 01:48 AM

Light novels, or novels that are based on anime or manga, have really taken Japan by storm. We are starting to get some in English (Psycho Busters, Blood+, Oh My Goddess, Death Note) but some publishers are scaling back ambitious plans to print a lot of light novels in English. Do you or do you plan on reading any. If your favorite manga or anime came in a novel (as the same story or as a side story, would you read it?

I would like to read a novel based on a manga or an anime film, I really like novels more than movies or comic books so I wouldn't mind if they had more of those here.

I would. I can never follow comic books well, so manga has been out of the question for my intake of Japanese media. Novels, however, are a favourite pass-time of mine. If I saw novels of Shakugan no Shana or Clannad or Elfen Lied, I would be obligated to blow what's left of my financial aid on purchasing them.

I like the whole idea. I love reading books and I read too much manga. So, it'll be a good change for me.

Thanks for reading!

I would definitely read light novels, especially for a series I liked where the anime or manga didn't give as much information as it probably should have.

As for Deathnote, I honestly wouldn't mind seeing some more stuff dealing with Misa and Raito after they were married. I know Raito worked with the investigation team, leading his dual life as both Kira and the new L, but what was life like for him outside of there. Did he ever show any affection (fake or otherwise...I'll go with the former) towards Misa at all?
