Whether it was influenced or not by Hamlet, the Anime has the same premise as that of the Lion King. Kimba the White Lion is a series not a movie so of course The Lion King will have a more compact story for itself and seem different.
However my point is that whether Hamlet influenced it or not, what isn't? More to the point, Tezuka was probably more influenced by Hamlet than the creators of The Lion King, who in turn were influenced by Tezuka.
Most dramas/music/art these days is influenced by one piece of work or another in the past. In fact its hard to make music these days that doesn't have the same beats as something else and the same goes for (mostly?) anything to do with creativity.
So yea Shakespeare was important since he created a backdrop and a standard for people to base their creativity against.
Also as I said earlier, it promoted the English language a lot as well.

I'd go alllll the way back to my childhood and tell little me that everything was going to turn out okay.

Then I'd head the opposite direction and go see how the world ends and how the human race is doing technical wise before it does.

Then I'd go see some dinosaurs.
Maybe marry a prince or two.
Be a disco king.
See just about every era.
Tell Stevie Ray Vaughan to not get on that plane.
And for my last act I'd go home and be like " GUESS WHAT I SAW BITCHES!!"

Can't you see the tears roll down the street?"

Hmmm. I'd go back back to the roman days and have fun with their weapons, then I'd go to modern japan and stay for a long while and go to germany then come home. Years of travel in just 1 second, maybe id return to a second befour i left. Then it'd be -1 second!! ^.^

I would love to know how the world begun.
Then go to the time where humans are still learning things.
Look for my first ancestor.
Meet Jesus.
Then go to the future, take a look what life will look like 1000 years from now.
Look for my great great great great great great great great great great grandsons and grandaughters.
See how the world will end.
Meet my future wife.^_^
