Is Japan expensive?
How much does a typical lunch meal and monthly room rent cost in Japan?

I was actually going to ask something like this at some point. So it's basically like anywhere else?
It can be incredibly expensive, or relatively affordable? |
Why, are you thinking about buying the entire country? O_O

Food is not too bad I think.
You should be able to find a decent lunch around 500yen and there are many choices. For the rental cost, if you get a place at one of those guest houses, monthly rent will be around 70,000~. If you want to get a place by yourself and want to live in particular areas, then it could be very expensive. |
The graphic below is regarding apartment prices:
From: Most expensive cities in 2008 In 2006, Tokyo was 4th in the ranking of the living cost among different cities. |
im not surprised at london being the most expensive place there is.
|
either way, that would still be a " yes. japan is expensive" but thats only in some cases.
|
Anything in the big cities is going to be pricey. Go to the tourist spot in Japan and I'm sure it's an arm and a leg. All depends though.
