Incest and Gay Love. - 05-14-2008, 01:32 AM

Today in history class we were learning about George Bush.
And of course the topic of Gay Marriage popped up.
Gibbs ( Our teacher ) expressed how he agreed with the idea of no marriage for gays.
A few students asked what was wrong with it.
His response, " Is it right for me to marry my brother or sister?"

And then I said " You're comparing Gay love to Incest?"
And he goes " Yes because they are equally wrong, Is it right for me to marry my sister"
Me - " No because that child would have birth defects"
Him - " Gays cannot even have children, so why are they different?"
And then the bells rings.
I'm a bit shocked that someone actually compared incest to gay marraige.
I think there is no comparison.
I can't really quite word why incest is wrong but it is.

I always knew he was against the gays but I'm a bit shocked he feels that strongly.
Is he correct to you? Are incest and gay love equals?
Should he be getting away with expressing such an opinion to a whole class of students?
Let me add some of these students were gay and he did end up hurting their feelings a great deal.

I don't think he has the right to express that opinion in such a bashing way.
Not only did he upset myself. As I said earlier, the gays in the class were highly bothered.
It's okay for him say he doesn't agree with it.
But the way he expressed it with the incest comment was completely out of the line.
Hateful things like that are what lead to Gays getting killed.
And to the nonstop gay bashing.
High schoolers are naive and most of them well take those words and us them as an excuse to hate gay people.

I don't hate people into incest.
I don't agree with the sexual actions but love is love.
On that degree Gay and Incest are very alike.
But so are other forms of love. Including Hetero.

EveV, does your teacher realize that in some school districts in this state even having that discussion could get him fired, much less for the stance he took?!

That comparison is extremely offensive and he is lucky neither I or several other educators I know heard his comments.

He has a right to his opinion, but that narrow of a viewpoint has no business in public education when it comes from an authority figure.

(yeah the claws are flexing - Madame is most displeased)

Lemme guess - he thinks his ex-governor and soon to be ex-president is a saint?

I agree with you love is love. Wow your history teacher said that. He must be against gay people which I prefer to call them homosexuals. Is really controverisal to talk about a topic of homosexuals in school. He should have not. I watch a program call 20/20 in abc and they had a special program called what would you do. In that night they had a topic of male homosexuals in a park hugging and kissing in public. They wanted to see people's reaction to it. A woman call the police about what she saw. Everybody that past them acted negatively. If I would of pass by them I would walk normaly it doesn't bother me.

I would report your teacher for being son rude and condescending. I don't understand how incest can be comparable to a gay couple.

I dont know how you can compare homosexual love to incest... I mean I have no problem with either but I find incest a little scary but still.... I think its quite rude that he would take it to that especially in a school. I dont think he should be discussing this with his students and love is love... What should it matter if they are the same gender? -sigh- Oh well people have a right to an oppinion but I think he put it very offensivly.

IMHO, Gay guys shouldnt exist... It's just decreasing our population... and you aren't born gay, because obviously your parents were straight to have you. So its a nurture thing not by nature. Gay girls on the other hand can exist because they can still reproduce... I dunno, Gay folk are weird.

There is nothing weird with homosexuals they are human beings. I have notice that people are always more harsh toward males that are gay than females. Why is that?

Actually the population needs a serious decrease.
We're running out of resources.

Thing is.
Aldine ISD is religiously influenced.
So even if I did talk to the district he would not be in any harm.

I don't care if he does express his opinion.
I love teachers who speak their minds.. but there's a difference between speaking your mind and then just saying something completely unnecessary.

This is just new.
Accepting people who are homosexuals changes with every generation.
Equality is a hard road to pave but it's getting smoother each day.

Because lesbians are apparently " hot" to the majority of the male population.
