Thank you, Japan! - 05-20-2008, 06:30 PM

I read from news media that Japanese Rescue teams are Sichuan China working tirelessly to save Chinese life. Thank you! I remember you, Japan!

I'm very fond of Japan and japanese culture, but I've got a nice penpal friend in China too, who is full of kindness (and can speak japanese), so I'm glad to see that help between neighbours., it makes me very happy to see such kind of good things

There are eyes that see but say nothing at all
There are ears that hear but they don't recall
In this city of ours
So we followed your man back to your front door
And we're waiting for you outside
'Coz not everybody here is scared of you
Not everybody passes on the other side

And we could spend our whole lives waiting
From some thunderbolt to come
And we could spend our whole lives waiting
For some justice to be done
Unless we make our own

While I`m glad that efforts are being made to help...

I can`t help but feel angry at China for not allowing them to help until 72 hours AFTER the quake - when there was a team ready to head over within a few hours. So many more lives could have been saved...

Indeed. But for some people, it can be hard to accept aid from someone. Especially if it's someone they have had many problems with in the past.

From the little I know, I do know that Japan and China has that kind of relationship.

It is too bad that it takes something like this to bring people together, but maybe this will help in the long run.

But you see - It wasn`t just Japan. They refused to accept aid from anywhere - Japan just happened to be the first they did allow. (Korea being the second, if I recall correctly.)

To Nyororin San,
If that's the case, it's a great pity. Even though I consider the government is doing a better job this time, there are still a lot of lesson to be learned. The late response to foreign aid may come from the fact that there was no emergency plan in place before what happened.
