Any news of the motive of the Man who attacked people in Akihabara - 06-14-2008, 10:19 PM

Has their been any news of a motive of the man who hit and stabbed people in Akihabara

From what I've heard, at least, it seems the man was driven insane for some reason... Which may imply that he had acted without a rational motive.
That's just my guess, however, I haven't done any research or read of any late developements on the case, so I really couldn't say for sure -- maybe someone could correct me, if I'm wrong.

well i heard about by pure chance the story was on Anime News Network and they had rumors in the story that he was either a crazed otaku or a Yakauza

I think he claimed he was a ganster, initially, but eventually retracted that story.

But ah well. Its a shame on those innocent people.
Japan still has one of the lowest crime rates though xD

Two reasons really. A, he was going to lose his job. B, he read in a magazine that a man of his age had a very low chance of getting married. These are the two main things that caused him to flip out according to the local news

in our local newspaper it said that he posted lots of warnings and wanted someone to stop him.
and that he felt sorry for the ppl he killed. o.O
