This world is overly-populated w/ human beings as it is.
Does 'a world of good' if more people would just die x]

Well that's not very nice, but in a way you're right. I just wish there was a way to make specific people die, like the ones who make the world a worse place to live. Oh wait, there is! it's called 'the nuke'!

not really. I'm not in favor of nukes, but I do wish that we could bring back that natural selection thing, it doesn't seem to work the way it's supposed to anymore.

Of course, that work quite well wouldn't it?
Should we rid this world of all it's pestilence, that is those beings who do nothing good for this world nor for humanity, and bring about a cleansing of the human race.

Curious thought~ we battle cancer like the Earth battles us.
No matter how many are killed, more just keep coming back x.x''

That just shows how recently you've watched The Matrix.
Interesting thought though. Maybe Ghengis Khan had a pretty good idea, except if he'd taken over the whole world we'd all be eating at the mongolian BBQ all the time. Could be worse.

If you're so concerned about it, why don't you lead the way and kill yourself?

Its easy to say "more people should die" and still be alive to tell the tale.

I think no matter who you are and how you do it...suicide is selfish in many ways...but obviously the people who do it aren't in the right mind to think that... but how many people get murdered and die everyday, the ppl who dont want to go and then there's people who do...if only there was a way to trade places.... i would hate to know someone who commited suicide because i would feel so guilty that I couldn't help in anyway....

....but on a lighter note me and my mum saw a book of stupidest laws the other day and one we were laughin at was that suicide is a capital offence it made me laugh all day!

Of course Of course

On a more serious note though, I find the existence of this thread, a glamourization of suicide. Just because some Japanese people find a new smelly way of killing themselves, doesn't mean it is something acceptable.
I personally find the idea of Sepukku/Harakiri, unacceptable. We live with pain and endure, no matter what guilt or dishonour we have conjured up for ourselves.
Of course it does not take away from the fact that honour is so highly regarded in Japan, (because of their Bushido history) that even now people will kill themselves rather than facing dishonour or humiliation. However i'm sure that the majority who think about this and kill themselves, use honour as an excuse rather than a real reason to die. I can only think about politicians having any kind of excuse to kill themselves.. but even that is ultimately wrong in my eyes.
We also forget that this honour system was instilled because of the Samurai. It was not meant for ordinary people.

Conclusion: Respecting your Honour is great thing but killing yourself is Dishonourable to life.
If you have suicidal problems, then there is something wrong with you and you need help. Don't make excuses about it and deny the truth.

Why are so many people in here joking about suicide or calling it okay.
People are dying because they hate their lives.
Who cares if it's their fault or not, it's still a tragedy.
Behind everyone is friends and family, who suffer after their death.
Losing someone is very very painful especially if they take their lives.
It's not any of you selfish, " As long as it isn't me", pricks business.
That is between the victims of suicide and their loved ones.

This is a true turn off for me about Japan.
I mean really, we're so damn lucky to be here.
Think about sex, there are millions and millions of other, could be people, that come out in that one moment.
The chances of you being born and then.. living are literally one out of a million.
There's so much to see and do.
So many people are out there dying who would do anything for the years you have ahead.

Suicide is not okay.
And it's not a joke.

Hopefully, one day it'll lose its popularity.

simply because it's more fun too watch a genocide than too actually be part of it x]

same thing like ....jackass i would say~
fun too watch, but not soo fun too be the one watched~ desu ne?
sadistic pleasure derived from the pain and suffering of others x]
can't say no one else feels the same =3
(because if no one did...then we wouldn't have certain forms of entertainment~)

and before anyone comments on this~
yes i am selfish
no i really don't care
yes i'm a bastard
no i really really do not care~
no i really don't enjoy cruelty too others, i just love satire x]
and
yes, you can go f$ck yourself if you really feel that strongly against the things i say x]
^.^

@monkey~ kinda feel that's something of a cultural clash~
being sentient beings, we naturally prioritize living above anything else~
and w/ that, it's only natural that most people/cultures will shun the taking of life~ but, as you said, the thing of bushido being so intertwined with the japanese people, honour is something prized beyond life~
personally, i find it more admirable when someone is able too forsake his own life for that of others~
(killing yourself so that everyone else can feel better; the idea of seppuku, lol)
as opposed too those who beg like dogs and forsake everything else in the world just soo that they can live~ >.>'
*of course, everything is circumstantial, and thus debatable, lol*
