I personally do not know the answer to this. My japanese friend definitely believes that plants Do have feelings-- I simply do not Know at all.

When trees are cut down or have branches removed etc theysay that they scream. Why do some people believe that plants thrive when humans speak to them.

I wondered about Bonsai being trained as they are and miniaturised.

someone mentioned FISH. but fish are not plants.

I do know that I am hopeless at looking after any plants-- but I do appreciate nature and Bonsai is fascinating.

when I said HAPPY I guess I meant that if the tree was not happy it would not flourish. It would not survive.

I don't mean ha ha happy------------but say " not distressed!" I truly do not know at all.

Some people have green fingers-- is that because they learn correctly how to care for the plants-- yet someone like myself-- who often means DEATH to an indoor plant--am ignorant
or even simply :Lazy.

It's not that you must spend every minutes of your life with it, but if you consider that usually Bonsai makers either old or homemakers(who live or work at home) than you can get the picture: it probably needs time and peaceful lifestyle to be successful with it. - So I still recommend, if you can afford it, take a bonsai under your wings, and try to love it, it will 'thank' to you.

For bonsai nuts! - 12-04-2010, 08:52 PM

I'm not sure which category would be the best to share these pics, but I think this thread is good enough for that.

I made the drawings (these are my first on bonsai-pots, so I used pics from Japan and also Hokusai' works, he's one of my favorite), and the shape of the octagonal pot is my work, of course the rest/main was my father's as he's the ceramist, I just like to work with him from time to time.

I hope I can show them to you after they're planted in. I don't know if anyone will want them though, because not every tree can be planted in a patterned pot, but than I will do it.

I know these are not very attractive, but to match the tree the pattern must be very simple. It shouldn't dominate, so the second one is a bit overdone with the white petals, and I think next time I'll leave out the glaze and make it in terracotta.

We call it as "DONGURI" in Japanese.

In this movie, he uses "Menedael" to activate the plants.
