Do you guys like the Monster Energy Drink?

well i read somewere that a guy used monster energy drinks to study late at night and the guy had good grades but he slept so little that when he got older he endedup in a mental institution aka he went cucu

^ from energy drinks? eh, possible, i guess; then again, anything can drive someone insane. that story's more plausible with one of the infamous 'study drugs,' such as adderall, speed, etc. and hey man, just because someone's been institutionalized doesn't mean they're crazy... they may have just been misdiagnosed or whatnot (i'm thinking of 'institutionalized' by suicidal tendencies).

energy drinks usually have as much caffeine as a cup or two of coffee; so i don't think it's the caffeine that makes intolerant people freak out from energy. it's probably the overload of b-complex vitamins and taurine, both of which provide crazy energy.

and whoa, green tea mix drinks? i can't see how anyone health-conscious can swallow those sugary mixes. they taste nothing like green tea. besides that, they're loaded with so much sugar (probably the same amount as energy drinks), you barely get any of the green tea's health benefits from drinking that stuff. instead, all that excess sugar & carbohydrates just turn to fat in your body. a can of arizona is what, 300 calories? something wild like that. i say, if you want to be healthy and get energy, then just drink some teabag-brewed green tea and chew on a ginseng root (they can be found at [usually Chinese] herb shops).

And athletes drink that and worse. My boyfriend does BMX, trials riding, freestyle on bike and motocross and he and his pro buddies drink all sort of energy drinks and some blue stuff that they actually get paid to drink xD!

bull sperm? nah. that idea probably came from the fact that partially what makes RedBull so energizing is the fact that it has taurine, which was first found in bulls' gallbladders (nothing to do with sperm). the word taurine comes from taurus, latin for bull (hence the astrological sign taurus is an ox/bull).

Apologies, they didn't change the ingrediants of redbull in france, the law simply changed on how much taurine and caffeine is allowed in drinks

All "energy drinks" are good for is keeping people addicted to sugar and caffiene rushes and to throw the mineral and vitamin balance in your body totally out of reason. Yeah, I drink a premixed tea once in a while.... when my blood sugar is cratering and I am risking unconciousness. But its no better than drinking a canned soda, and for some people even worse because the resulting crash when the additives wear off sends you running for even more the stuff.

As for it fatally dehydrating someone - absolutely. Ask any well educated coach in Texas who has had a player collapse in the heat if you want more case studies. Try some water!

As for making you crazy. Well its not directly linked, but extreme or continued sleep deprivation will impair your mental function enough to have you committed. And if you screw with your nutritional habits enough it will cause the aforementioned sleep deprivation.

The only thing worse than the "energy drinks" are the diet and nutritional suppliments that are just chemical dumps of the same stuff in even higher quantities.

I hate Monster. It just tastes gross. I can only drink So-Be water and Gatoraid. lol.
