Swedish music? - 07-12-2008, 08:55 AM

I once heard that Swedish music is popular in Japan...
Does anyone know if that's true?

I say you gotta be strong and make up your own mind
Be your self not a puppet in their freakshow
Coz thats the way you'll end up when they beat you blind...
Wont take shit from anyone
Never played by the rules
Coz we're the kids of the underground
And there's a riot in everyone!

Wow... really?

I've never heard that... And I've been to Sweden and have good friends there.

Many of their mainstream local artists sing in English 50% of the time and sounds like mainstream American pop music.

Isn't Smile.dk a Swedish music group? They did do a lot of music for the DDR games, and DDR is popular in Japan.

Oh really?

I don't know of the band that you talk about.

It might be the case that a couple of songs that happen to be from Sweden took off in Japan rather than Japanese people find Swedish music particularly cool in the same way that some Westerners find Japanese music to be particularly cool.

Hmm, don't really know... I think we had some rock bands that made it over there a while back, perhaps there are some swedish music popular over there now too.

I don't think they're especially interested in swedish music, rather just western music...?

Oh and Smile-dk are swedish, but I've never heard of 'em.

Yeah, it's good that many songs by Swedish artists and band are in English, coz most songs with Swedish lyrics sounds just pathetic. The only swedish-lyriced songs worth listening to are old Swedish punk. For example; Ebba Grön. And there's also a Swedish soft rock band called Kent. They makes their Swedish songs sound good.

And those artists you mentions, Marie Serneholt and Darin... To call that music is nothing but a sorry excuse. It just sounds like painful noice to me... It's nothing but shame they they represent Swedish music...

To mention some Swedish band that are really good; (they has English lyrics to their songs...)
In Flames, Hammerfall, Crashdïet, Backyard Babies, Hardcore Superstar...
If anyone wanna hear how good Swedish rockbands sounds like, listen to these bands.

Yeah, it sucks that they're Swedish it really brings down Sweden's music scene :3 Especially Darin with all his fangirls. And just because they're young they steal the spotlight away from the "real" Swedish bands. The rock ones that is
