The implication is that because someone is already rich, it is OK to steal thier music. I say this is not so.

If anything, if I was pro downloading, I would have said something along the lines of "those damned artists make way too much money anyway, so stealing from them doesn't matter", but I didn't say that, because that's a matter of opinion. Much like the Robin hood stealing from the rich

Noodle, you are usually a careful reader. Now you are the one putting words in my mouth. I will explain myself one more time, but I really don't want to hijack this thread.

I never said "99.99% of musicians struggle because of illegal downloads" (Please don't put quotes around words when I didn't say or imply what is between them).

Yes, maybe the top %0.01 are that rich, but most musicians are struggling artists. God forbid you would shell out a dollar for their art.

I never meant to imply that illegal downloading was keeping musicians in the poor house, but (like I just said in my previous post) the implication from Claire's original post was that because musicians were rich, it wasn't fair to block illegal downloading.

And I never said you said illegal downloading was OK. What I did say is when you use a word like "available" as in "downloads are available" it makes it sound like downloading is OK. Candy bars are "available" at the local store, but that doesn't mean it is OK to steal them.

You have to see it from the artists' point of view.

If YOU were to live of your music, wouldn't you be kind of annoyed if you realized people just 'stole' the stuff from around the web?
