That is written by a guy that profits from stealing music and giving it away for free. I can show you all kind of reports from cigarette companies that show how tobacco is actually good for you, too. Artists that give their music away for free ARE IN CONTROL of the content that is distibuted. Artists aren't in control of torrent sites. Guys like the one that wrote that post aren't concerned about artists or the music industy. They are just try to get people to their illegal download sites so you'll click banners and they'll make money. Ask an artist that has their ripped album available on Torrent Freak if they are happy about it being there. |

Tell that to the indie bands having to disband because people rather wanna download the stuff. YES it might benefit the major bands around the world - but if you think about the new bands just entering the business, all this downloading will slaughter their asses big time. We've seen it before. >_>

From their MySpace pages. No band would tell you to go to Torrent Freak and start downloading their entire music library in one file. Even giant bands put out singles and teasers, but in the end every single musician, from the kid down the street to Bono wants you to BUY thier album.

I'm not exactly sure why you guys are debating this anyway? It's actually irrelavent. There are plenty of ways of getting music legally and free. There are lots of streaming websites for when you're at home on the pc. And for downloading, systems like Qtrax are getting bigger and bigger. If you guys don't know what Qtrax is, it's basically a p2p network that is actually backed by record labels. Including the big ones like EMI.
So to be honest with you, the news going around today, seems to be just to scare people. Soon enough, most people will be getting free downloads at the cost of living with a few crappy advertisements. lol.. ![]() |
