Because what's the point in giving money to rich people when they don't deserve it? It's my money I'm concerned about, not their profit. Albums or not.

Maybe you guys would find this interesting anyway [it's old, though]:

So because someone has money, they don't deserve to be paid for their work?

It's about your money and their music. There is no exchange of goods. You are just taking.

That is written by a guy that profits from stealing music and giving it away for free. I can show you all kind of reports from cigarette companies that show how tobacco is actually good for you, too.

Artists that give their music away for free ARE IN CONTROL of the content that is distibuted. Artists aren't in control of torrent sites. Guys like the one that wrote that post aren't concerned about artists or the music industy. They are just try to get people to their illegal download sites so you'll click banners and they'll make money. Ask an artist that has their ripped album available on Torrent Freak if they are happy about it being there.

You call standing on a stage and singing work? Big wow. My mum saves peoples lives on a daily basis. She's the one that should be earning millions, not those people.

Sorry MMM, but we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one.

Tell that to the indie bands having to disband because people rather wanna download the stuff. YES it might benefit the major bands around the world - but if you think about the new bands just entering the business, all this downloading will slaughter their asses big time. We've seen it before. >_>

Actually, most new bands TELL you to download their stuff. Trust me on this one, I know. They aren't in it for the money at that stage. My friend organises gigs, and I can tell you now, it costs peanuts for small bands. They want their material out there, and they want you to listen to it. They may sell demo CD's at gigs, and I ALWAYS buy them if I like the band.

From their MySpace pages. No band would tell you to go to Torrent Freak and start downloading their entire music library in one file. Even giant bands put out singles and teasers, but in the end every single musician, from the kid down the street to Bono wants you to BUY thier album.

I didn't mean that. Most underground bands' music will not be available on TorrentFreak.

I know what you meant. Musicians want you to visit thier MySpace and DL the songs they have available there.

No musician wants you to use Pirate Bay ot Torrent Freak and download whole albums for free.

I'm not exactly sure why you guys are debating this anyway? It's actually irrelavent. There are plenty of ways of getting music legally and free. There are lots of streaming websites for when you're at home on the pc. And for downloading, systems like Qtrax are getting bigger and bigger. If you guys don't know what Qtrax is, it's basically a p2p network that is actually backed by record labels. Including the big ones like EMI.

So to be honest with you, the news going around today, seems to be just to scare people. Soon enough, most people will be getting free downloads at the cost of living with a few crappy advertisements. lol..

I've never said never in my whole life and i'm sure you can NEVER prove it
