Currency[!] - 08-10-2008, 03:20 PM

Okay!

So, I thought I'd start a thread for us to discuss all the different currencies out there and see what money looks like in other countries.

Here we have Euros which we've been using since 2000 I think. At first I thought it looked too much like Monopoly money because of the colors, like each note has a different color and they're like green and blue and pink, just like it is in Monopoly xD!

This picture below shows all the notes we have; the 5-Euro note is this ugly greyish color, it's my least favorite one of all, then there's the 10-Euro note which is like a lame attempt at pink... I really like the purple one which is 500 Euros but those are hardly ever seen. I think I've only held one in my hands like maybe twice in my entire life lol It felt GOOD!! hahaha x)

As for the coins, we have 1cent., 2cents (<-- dunno why we still have those, there's nothing priced under 5cents. so they're just useless and pretty annoying to have), there's the 5cent coin which is brown and ugly; and 10, 20 and 50 cent coin. Then we have the 1 Euro coin (100 cents) and 2 Euro coin. And then it's notes.

So... yeah, show me your money

Ps.- I really like Australian cash, I think it's my favorite one, so all of you Aussies, get posting here!

Canadian currency looks pretty much the same in basic design...though not nearly as large numbering on the paper currency.

Don't have any pictures to show. But on topic, I have discovered that it's pretty much impossible to get currency exchange quotes online, and it's up to buying a newspaper to get them. Quite odd in the internet-connected world we live in nowadays.

Fortunately, there is one woman in this world who can control me.

Unfortunately for you, she is not here.

Well, as French we use this goddamn euro too.
I was in Germany in the early 1990s and the banknotes were like our euros, but in best, because they were representing existing monuments or places, as euros are representing neither (maybe only in the mind of the banknote drawers?)

I sadly had not anymore old french banknotes, some were great.

But there is now a japanese 1000 yens/en that I purchased two years before (easy in Versailles, we have lots of change offices there ) for about 7 euros...

Japanese have a better sense of beautiful things than us, I believe...

I'm in England, and we use pounds.

It's like this.

1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1, £2. Those are coins.

£5, £10, £20, £50. Those are notes.

It's 100 pennies in a pound.

Notes [we don't call them 'bills']:

In America, it's all about plastic, YO! xD
Plastic as in my Cred card, my STARBUCKS card, and my 24 Hour Fitness Membership Card >.>''''

Woah Misa, you got that many coins? British pounds suck ass, everytime I go to England I can't help but think the 20-pound note is like our 20-Euro one when it's actually worth TWO 20-Euro notes and... I always spend twice as much as I think when buying stuff >.<

I love it beeeecause British pounds are worth about 2 American dollars, so therefore you can go on the American ebay and buy things for cheeeeaper

There isn't that many coins, if you look, some of them are the same coin turned over, there is a different picture on either side. There is a 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 and £2. So it's still quite a bit.

I like it better, I grew up with pounds so I'm glad we didn't change to Euros.
