Some are accusing the women's gymnastics team from China of being under the required age of 16 to compete.

What do you think?

performance was amazing but for most of them i would never give 16 yo or more >.> maybe 14-15 ..

I certainly have my doubts, but I know too little about the devlopment of east asian girls to give a fair judgement.

There shoud be a "I am not sure" vote, so I can not vote.

I dont think it matters, anyway. Saying smaller girls can jump higher does not pack a punch when you consider everyone already knows certain body builds excel at different tasks, and yes, small gymnasts are good. This is not unfair, that is like saying it is unfair that a fat person could never win because the others were thin; it is a contest of body types that is not tied to age. I doubt these girls will grow too much bigger when they get a bit older, anyway.

Dont forget, Asian girls always appear younger than white girls, anyway.

You also gotta figure; these girls won most their points for good form, not high jumps. Keeping balanced and your legs together when on the beam or the high bars or horse has nothing to do with being younger...

They really don't look like they are over 16 years old, I would say they are about 13-14 years old, but, just like ante, I know too little about asian girls "growing pains" for me to judge.

And there is appearing younger, and then there's appearing pre-pubescent.

I agree, though. The solution should be no age limits.

I hear just 1 of China's womens gymnastics team is 13, but I don't care, I've been rooting for them =] And Chinas other teams too

Like Tenchu, I am not certain either. I don't really know any people who are from China. However, I do know many Vietnamese as well as a few Nepalese and Koreans. Many times they appear much younger to me, than Caucasian girls of the same age.

However, I am also suspicious because this group, of girls, appears extremely young to me. Even younger than what I have come to expect for Asian women.

Anyhow, I do not feel certain enough to place my vote either way....

Ugh, neutral.

Some of them definitely don't look 16 (or over)... But it can sometimes be difficult to predict an Asian person's age, especially when judging by appearance.
I've been wrong many times before.
