American Family ASSociation - 09-04-2008, 08:57 PM

Boycott McDonald's - A Project of American Family Association

AFA - American Family Association - Promoting Traditional Family Values

American Family Association - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Was just browsing wikipedia when I happened upon this organization
and quite frankly, I'm disgusted.
Too lazy right now to write out an entire rant so I'll just leave it up to everyone else to discuss this.

Are you guys for or against the beliefs of the American Family ASSociation >.>'

Well, some of their ideals are okay I think. They way they are going about it is wrong though. A bit extreme if you ask me. The whole marriage thing, well it's not so much as them getting together that bugs me as the use of the word marriage. Maybe I'm crazy but marriage has always had a hetero connotation to it. At least I think so. For them to just add in their own footnote kinda bugs me because then I should be able to use the word Logistics and have it mean mental forms of logic instead of the procedures of transporting goods. But I can't can I. (I do believe in Logistics btw, I invented them. Logic meaning not the transporting goods one.) So I don't think its fair that they can change the definition of something and I can't. It would be okay if they called it something else though. Like a union. I'm good with Union, they can have it. But not marriage or Logistics. It's not a religious thing its more of a schematics type of thing. But I don't think they should go to jail for being homosexual. That's retarded. That's like saying I should go to jail because I leave the seat down instead of up when I'm done using the toilet. It's preference if I want to leave the seat up or down and it's my god dam toilet. I can leave the seat covered in doo doo without having to go to jail. Plus they are supper imposing their religious beliefs on the rest of the country that doesn't want to be evangelized. I think if your going to push your religion on others or the rest of the world for that matter, you should be as aggressive as conservatism allows you to be. They also need to change their name. American Family Association assumes that all American families are Christian and that's not true. In fact their agenda is only about homosexuality so they should change their name to Christian Families against Homosexuality. CFAH. Done and Done. That just bleeds with egotism and rampant selfishness being called AFA.

Just the mere fact that their beliefs are based upon Christianity is enough too aggravate me and VOID anything that they might say.

Probably should've made the title a bit more inviting >.>''

Despite the fact that I don't consider myself Christian, I have a profound respect for many Christian concepts and values, and it's always unfortunate when its uglier, disagreeable, aspects are given the spotlight. Still, this association can do what it wishes within the law, so if that the lifestyle they wish to lead and promote, fine.

I used to be against changing the whole definition [federally] of marriage, not because I think homosexuals didn't deserve to have unions of the same right's as marriage, but primarily because so many people didn't want the definition to change. However, two things became clear to me: 1. These should be state decisions, not federal, and 2. just because legal documents say someone is married does not mean they are married under a religious order. If Christians, or whatever other faith, don't want to recognize it as a marriage under God, no one's controlling their brains.

It does make me smirk that they call themselves the "American" Family Association. Clever ploy to get people to look at them in the first place, and even though it's kind of obvious what they think American traditional family should look like, the terminology still makes them look haughty and/or presumptuous.

Agreed.

They are a bunch of fuck bags. Too bad there are so many in this world. If people like that ever came to power it would just be a Christian version of Iran or Taliban Afghanistan. It would end up creating wars.

Even if it seems certain that you will lose, retaliate. Neither wisdom nor technique has a place in this. A real man does not think of victory or defeat. He plunges recklessly towards an irrational death. By doing this, you will awaken from your dreams.

(this is from the wikipedia page)
Quote:
The AFA expresses public concern over what it refers to as the "homosexual agenda." They claim that the Bible "declares that homosexuality is unnatural and sinful."
wtf there is no where is the bible that says anything about homosexuals.
I hate it when people say that.

I am in no way for this assanine Association. I voted against supporting it. I was raised Christian, but feel it is a hypocritical way of thinking and do not practice the religion at all.
I was looking back at some of the posts, and I hate to say this, but the Bible does in fact speak against homosexuality.
I could care less. In my opinion, it's love however you look at it. Who are you to say it's wrong to love someone?
