No Its just something some people do to relax. like how some Americans go to a spa.

Some people on the weekend ends drive for hours just to get to a Onsen good bath house (not every weekend every now and then) most are just heated by a water heater, some use real hot spring water (oh there nice)

I when with My host family to a ryokan (Japanese-style Inn) in the mountains , most of them have a bath house. this one was a real hot spring water Onsen. they had a non mixed bath and a mixed bath part. Japan has mixed bath houses because the idea of nudity is not the same as in the west. (USA) Well I went with my host dad to the mens section. but latter we went to the mixed bath becasue I wanted to experience a real Japaneses trip, well we went in. Know guys if you think that Mix bath has some young naked woman in there, well you would be wrong, the exact opposite is true. A lot of men go in to mix bath, and a lot of the time some family would go in together. In my case how ever the where not that many men.

The treated me like they would any one else (but some times you would get stares form little kids who have never seen a foreigner)

Fashion is not all that different from The U.S. some things are the same.

Yes, I love my Japanese Family very much. They said they Love me too ^_^ (makes me feel all warm in side lol)

Its not to difficult to learn some phases, but learning to speak fluently is difficult as would any other language (I cough on pretty quick though)

I think most people have a bathroom at home, but once a week or something they go to the public baths.
