Self Inflicted Pain - your thoughts on it. - 12-11-2008, 02:34 AM

Self inflicted pain.

I want people's thoughts on it.

Is it EVER cool?

Is it totally unnecessary?

What do you think of performers/artists who do this? Is it bad media, is it setting a bad example to their fans who look up to them?

Does it REALLY make the "real" pains of your life go away?

Those are just some of the questions I would love to hear people's opinions/answers on.

It got me thinking as I was in the Dir en Grey thread.
We all know Kyo does that kind of thing on stage. or at least he used to, i dont know.
but could that REALLY be attractive?
is it really necessary for him to be disgusting like that?
well, maybe it was for him if the music isn't that great (but we're not here to discuss music)
I think it could affect young fans, they might go ahead and copy what he does, thinking it's cool, thinking it makes all the pain go away, or whatever.

but it's just retarded.
I think self inflicted pain is NEVER okay in any situation.
i think it's retarded.
not attractive in anyway, it's GROSS.

i dunno. give me opinions people =)

and i'm not "targeting" Kyo, so dont flame me, i was just using him as an example.

peace.
Rei

Seriously, what is it with rockstars that think self inflicted pain is cool? I saw a act at the download festival who did the exact same thing as Kyo, like claws up his back, flying in the air with only his flesh holding on.

I'm here for the music not the blood. >.<

Self inflicted pain is not cool.
Pain is a reflex that your body uses to protect you unconsciously, not to be played with.

self inflicted pain= R.E.T.A.R.D.E.D

It depends. Many people do that due to mental problems, and many do that only for the attention.

But it is not a cool thing, that is for sure.It is against the human natural instincts of self-preservation.

It's pathetic, it's idiotic. People who think it's cool just got something going on in their mind.

If someone is hurting themselves, they need help. I will never understand how people love the feel of blades, knives, razors, etc. cutting into their skin and watching the blood pour out. That is effin disturbing.
A story I once read had a 17 y/o girl with heavy scars on her arms. I definitley feel pity for her.

@TheCrimson-Thanks for bringing this up. Younger people have such fragile minds, bad examples can so much taint their minds and screw them up.

i think that it depressing when people do it cause they think its the only way for them to control thier pain, when thier are so many other ways to express it in a healthy way. Also its retarded when people do it to get attention i knew this girl at skool who did it just for that and i was super pissed about it cause she lied to me and so many other people about her life and AHHHH GRRRRR!!!
