Exclamation Hard-Disk Problem ! - 02-04-2009, 01:51 PM

Hi All,

Is there any one knows Hard Disk repairing who can solve my problem?
I have a Hard disk (80 GB) brand of Samsung
It is just hanged on one single partition (formatted)
Means; that Hard Disk is locked,
It can be format, can create new partitions on it, and can copy data in it.
But after every restart it rest to its first position , again in Single Drive

Is there any one knows any thing about this problem
Any one knows the solution? any kind of !
I must have to repair it.

You need to create the partitions in DOS or when you install the Operating System. Using something like Partition Magic should work but you're doing something wrong with that, if that is what you're using.
If after creating partitions with the OS Setup or DOS, you still have problems, there is something wrong with the drive itself. Get a replacement if its under warranty or just buy a new one. They're relatively cheap nowadays.

ps. Why haven't you asked Samsung about this? They should help, even if the drive is out of warranty.

If I understood you, then I would suggest doing a complete erasure of the drive. Most of the time the operating system's built in tools are insufficient to do this properly. I suggest one of the following utilities:Both of these utilities need to be copied to a CD/DVD, floppy disk, or USB memory stick. They are both have thierown OS and the system needs to boot to the programs in order to work.

Dear I had use "Fdisk" and "Partition Magic" and also try to create partition with the Windows XP Setup (Installation) CD.
I try creating Partition on that existing partition and also by removing perv. Portion as well.
and also try to install Operating system on it ....
but I failed every time
After every restart Hard Disk Goes-Back to it's Prvs. Position

The Drive is not in Warranty. I also buy an other one for System
but problem is that, what happens to it and what is the solution ????¿

in the end I think as you guys said I have to contact with Samsung may be they help me. or guide me!
Thanks you very much!

Well these programs would work because they are used to low lever format a harddrive. However that is only necessary when data is needed to be Zero'd or Nullified totally on a HD. For instance, if a hard drive is going to be sold to a third party and has been used, it needs to be Zero Filled so that data can't be brought back up, since it is never fully deleted.
Therefore, I don't think a low-level format would do anything different than any other type of format would, other than being able to do it outside of an OS.
I really think there is something wrong with the hard drive itself and its ability to retain information.

Then again, you could be right and I could be totally wrong too.

A bad sector on the MBR, maybe? Do a low level with BS flagging? o_O
Though it will take you a week to do on a 80Gb HDD
I suggest to write it off and get a new one... these days they cost less than a new pair of (really expensive) socks.

I think your hard disk has a bad sector on it already that is why it stop on that area.

Try doing an error check first.

go to property of your hard disk -> tool -> error check
