Don't call it Anime club for starters, call it Society for the Study of Modern Visual Culture, like they did in Genshiken. And say that this club will be used for the study of modern day japanese pop culture, something that will help you understand a bit of another country's culture which you and the various people are interested in, and if you can bring globalization in to the conversation that will help a bunch.

Seconded completely, though I doubt anyone will turn up besides the people your already friends with.. Just not the way it works IRL.

On separate notes:

Genshinken bored me to tears though.. another reason I dislike anime..
Did you catch the episode where their "american friends" came over?

I'm sorry for all the bad stuff I said and all the feelings I hurt.. Please forgive me

That's what club promotion is for, look for people who like anime in your school and ask them if they want to join.
Do some projections every once in awhile in order to introduce anime to the people, for example.

Yah, I recall watching that one, but that was a longtime ago, so my mind is a little fogging I remember that one of the chicks like yaoi and that the same chick only quoted anime characters and used the word baka a lot, like most non-japanese anime fans do, other than I don't remember much.

How about international multimedia/animation or something? That's pretty much what it is anyway, since anime is Japanese for animation.
